The Engineering Liaison Council (ELC) is the one organization in California that networks all institutions of higher learning engaged in engineering education. At our meetings, we exchange best practices and discuss how we can cooperate. Our goal is to educate the diverse and skilled engineering workforce that can continue to place California in the forefront of technology. From the personal connections forged, collaborations emerge for sharing facilities and courses across institutions, pursuing grant programs, and in general creating a sense of shared purpose in educating the next generation of engineers in the face of institutional and societal resource constraints.
The ELC is the body where 4- and 2-year institutions can come together to ensure that pathways, certificates and courses are defined to meet the best interests of the students. It is also where innovative solutions that will advance student attainment, even with severe resource constraints, can be shared by all institutions. For the best practices to be implemented, participation by a broad set of institutions is needed, so please join us at a Fall or Spring sometime soon! Given the enthusiasm and talent of California engineering faculty, there is no doubt that we can produce effective change when we work together.
